David and wife Sonya are the owners of Kinetics and together are passionate about health and wellbeing.  Their vision is one of holistic wellbeing, through the lens of high level physiotherapy care.  Sonya is an award winning photographer and brings much of the creative inspiration to Kinetics; whilst also juggling their three very energetic and physically active sons.

As principal physio David has worked as a musculoskeletal physio in private practice for 15 years.  He has experience working alongside the Championship winning NZ Breakers Basketball team and as a touring physio with Athletics New Zealand.  His previous experience as a consultant physio has been with Triathlon USA, Triathlon Canada and he has worked alongside multiple Olympians across a number of sports.  With a background as a competitive runner and World Championship duathlete; David combines his clinical knowledge with a first-hand understanding of high performance sport.  David has further interest in gym based rehabilitation, youth injury prevention and has completed post-graduate study in spinal manipulation, sports physiotherapy, dry needling and more.

David established a Senior Leadership Team at Kinetics in 2022 to help ensure the training, mentoring and new graduate programmes are delivered to the highest standards.  This team also includes senior clinicians Brent, Natalie and Jody in addition to Georgia our Practice Manager.

David has dedicated clinical time in each of the two Kinetics’ locations.  In addition to this he also works as a post-operative consultant alongside orthopaedic surgeon Dr Warren Leigh.  This has involved developing post-surgical rehab protocols, expertise in custom knee bracing and research on client experience pre and post-surgery.

Outside of clinical work David has presented at seminars both in person and remotely on a number of topics including post-op ACL rehab, Shockwave therapy and the use of VALD Forceplates in physiotherapy.  David is the current Chair of the Physio Advisory Board alongside representatives from AUT University, all Auckland District Health Boards, Otago University, WINTEC and Auckland University.  Having served on this Board for over 3 years he is committed to improving the path for the next generation of physiotherapists.  David has been profiled by AUT University as one of their Alumni.
